3/24/25: Some music based updates

I've certainly been gone for a while, haven't I? Well, I have been busy with some things, namely listening to music. I'll only talk about my latest three listens, and rate them. Mostly because, well, I don't exactly remember everything I've listened to over these past few months!

First up is the obligatory Gizz related section, this time being dedicated to Deadstick. Technically, this song was actually leaked early, but I still decided to listen to it. And I can say that the descision to put an entire orchestra behind the song is inspired. If you'd like to, I've got it linked right here.

4/8/25: WE GOT DEADSTICK MV LEAKS!!! i dont have a download on me rn but i will update the embed when i do get my hands on it. absolutely massive ups to soundgardenfan420 on tumblr for it

Anyways, the actual review. From what's in this one song, I can easily forsee this new album being in the ballpark of a 10/10, and that's not just recency bias! It resolves all of the issues I had with b741, mainly being the lack of real texture. Sure, the inclusion can make it a bit packed at times, but the layering is in such a way where it actually adds to the whole song quite well. I don't really have any complaints, honestly.

Next is, unsuprsingly, The Murlocs. I've always liked Ambrose's singing voice, and upon actually discovering these guys I've fallen in love. Currently, I've only really listened to two of their albums, those being Loopholes and Calm Ya Farm. Really, Loopholes is my favorite. I think I just have a soft spot for music that sounds like it was recorded in an indoor pool. Who knows?

For your viewing pleasure, I've included the music video for Queen Pinky below. Honestly, it's fucking insane and one of my favorite music videos of all time.

And last, but absolutely not least, is The Flaming Lips. A friend of mine has been pressuring me to listen to a fair few of their albums, and so far it's actually been pretty good! My personal favorite albums of theirs are Embryonic and The Soft Bulletin, with my favorite song being Race For The Prize. I don't really know what it is about that one, it's just oddly nostalgic for me.

An edit from a few days in the future: I found this old xkcd comic about the hamster ball Wayne Coyne crowdsurfs in. It has basically nothing to do with the blog post, I just thought it was neat.

And before you ask, no, I will not be listening to I AM MUSIC. I tried to listen to Whole Lotta Red, and I wasn't a fan. I already thing Omnium Gadherium is too long, and that's from a band I like! God forbid I try to listen to a long ass album from someone I dislike, I'd start clawing at the drywall by the second song.

11/25/24: GNX

This year really is just the year of peak music, huh? I'm still reeling from the release of CHROMAKOPIA, then Kendrick stealth releases a new album! I had only heard about it from my friend Griffin after I had gotten home from school, and it just about made my weekend. I do secretly pity the people that'll try to make it all about Drake, though. I do get the feeling that he's moving on for bigger prey, given that the first song on the album is an explicit cut despite still being censored. We may never know who he called out. MUSTAAAAAAAARRRRRRDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!

10/28/24: CHROMAKOPIA

Well fuck me gently with a chainsaw. Today was the day we got a new Tyler, The Creator album and I cannot be happier about it. This actually is the second album to ever get the award of being put into my liked songs on spotify in it's entirety. A lot of people were saying in the leadup to release that it would be a generational album, and I entirely agree. I'm happy I was here the day it dropped. Give me a few days and I'll probably have more coherent thoughts on it and maybe make an essay about it, who knows!~

3/17/24: I'm a sucker and a fool, and I'm wayyy in over my head.

Sometimes I wish I trusted music and streaming services more, because then I would'nt be planning on transferring all of my favorite albums and my playlists onto CDs. Ah, well. In other news, I am planning on starting a Red Vox shrine! I don't really know what all the motivation behind it is, but I just think it'd be neat. And, well, its not entirely odd for this neck of the woods. Vinny has a Chrono Trigger shrine and all, so why can't I have a Red Vox one? Damn you, merch producers for not rereleasing the vinyls every so often! You'd be making my job that much easier!

1/22/24: pizmo beach, all the clams we could eat.

So, lots of news! One: I am trying to figure out css so I can make better pages, especially shrines! Two: I will absolutely be posting actual fanfic here instead of just links. Be hype, because I sure am!

11/9/23: On rock tumblers and bluer skies.

So! It looks like Tumblr is getting a skeleton crew. Historically, a terrible sign. I'm not one for disasters, really, so I have some contingency plans up for if they decide to take her off life support. Ah well, what can ya do? Anyways, I'm currently trying out Bluesky, which I've linked in the webmaster page. Go check it out, or don't, I'm not your dad.

10/31/23: Ramblings of a WW1 Obsessed Madman.

It's been a mostly uneventful day. Well, besides making this site. Feels nice getting into the swing of things again. Anyways, I've been considering posting a new fic I'm working on. If you've known me for any significant point of time, you already know what it is. Check back on my AO3 when I say it comes up to check it out. You'll love it, I promise.

Completely unrelated, but I've always really hated slippery things. Be it ice or mud, I loathe it. Besides slime, nothing beats a good slime.
